Have a question about Special Education at SOMS? The SOMS liaisons are available to help you find resources and supports for your SOMS student. Email: SOMS.SpEdLiaison@gmail.
PARENTING CENTER GROUPS
Parenting Center groups are free of charge and open to all. Groups meet in the District Meeting Room, Board of Education Building at 525 Academy Street unless otherwise indicated – click here for more information.
ACHIEVE TuTORING
Achieve’s hallmark tutoring program improves the academic performance and increases the confidence of children who are struggling with their schoolwork by pairing them with trained volunteer tutors.
Request a tutor or become an adult or student tutor. Please email program coordinator Shannon Kirk at skirk@somsd.k12.nj.us.
SOMA SHARES
SOMA Shares is a network of volunteers and organizations making donations of shelf-stable groceries, school supplies, toiletries, and books available to SOMSD families at school lunch distribution.
This fall, SOMA Shares is distributing school supplies. Families in need of supplies are encouraged to reach out via email at somashareseveryday@gmail.com.
SOMS Social Work & Counseling program
Social Workers, Social Work Interns, and School Counselors provide counseling, lunch groups, homework clubs, and many other resources to promote the social and academic growth of our students. For more information, contact SOMS Social Worker Alison Steiner, LCSW at asteiner@somsd.k12.ny.us
Chat cards from the SOMS SOCIAL WORK PROGRAM
Spark discussion with your middle-schooler at the dinner table or while driving errands. The social work team created chat cards to support SOMS families in engaging their tween (and the entire family!) in conversation. Thank you to Vanessa and Charlie Pollock for generously donating to the cost of the chat cards.
